Camera Academy

For those of you who have been patiently waiting, here it is. A workshop geared towards all of you Moms that want to take better pictures using that fancy-schmancy camera.

DATE:  Sunday, August 26th
TIME: 4 – 8pm
PLACE:  My in-home studio here in Englewood.

*Please note: This class is intended for the beginner who is seeking basic knowledge of taking the camera off auto-mode and improving the every day photos taken. This class is NOT geared towards taking your photography to the next level, how to build a photography business or advanced photography or Photoshop skills.

Here’s what to expect:

* four jam-packed hours of one-on-one instruction on how to work all of those buttons on that fancy camera

* a  workbook for you to take home to refine and refresh your skills on the information covered

* FOOD!  Studies show that your brain works better when it’s fed, so we’ll have lots of munchies!

* we’ll take our cameras outside in the last hour of class and practice what we learned

* some fun prizes

Will I need to bring anything?

* You’ll need to bring your dSLR (this is a camera that allows you to switch lenses) with you. Here’s a list of popular cameras:

  • {$500 – $700} Nikon D3100, D5100 or Canon Rebel T3, Rebel T3i
  • {$900 – $1700} Nikon D90, D7000 or Canon 60D, 7D
  • {$2300- $5200}Nikon D700, D4 or Canon 5D Mark II, 5D Mark III

* You’ll also need your kit lens (the one that came with your camera when you bought it). If you really want to get more bang for your buck with your camera, consider upgrading your kit lens to a 50mm 1.8. These typically sell for around $100 on Amazon.com for Canon or Nikon. It’s not at all required, but you’ll really love the way your images look when using it!!

* You’ll also need to bring your owners manual! Consider this as sacred as that 50 Shades of Grey book you’re really into right now…

What’s it cost?

Tuition for the class is $150 + tax, which is due when you register. Due to the one-on-one nature of this workshop, I’ll be limiting the class size to 10-12 attendees. HOWEVER, if there is enough interest, I will be holding another class after this one.

What will I learn?

* You will learn all about the Exposure Triangle (ISO, Aperture, Shutter Speed) and how to use your camera in manual mode

* Learn how to utilize natural light and get rid of that flash!

* Tips on how to get candid and natural photographs of your children

* a few quick lessons on composition and understanding how it impacts your images

Sign me up!

Email me at ericka@picturefizz.com and I will send the link to the shopping cart  in the order that they are received. This is the only way to reserve your seat and you aren’t officially registered until payment is made. The fee is non-refundable but you may sell your seat to another attendee if you are unable to attend.

I’m also looking into creating a flickr group or maybe a private Facebook group for the attendees to all stay connected and help each other after the class is over. It is my goal for each one to learn just *one thing* in this class!

Hello!
I was referred to this class from Nikki James, and I would LOVE to come to a class, but I work some weekends and this one doesn’t work out for me. I would love to be kept on an email list to be updated if you hold any future dates:) Also, my husband and I are both trying to figure out our dSLR, so if 2 ppl come with one camera, would it still just be the $150?

Thank you so much for your time! I really hope something will work out in the future:)

Ashley
